Abstract
75 years ago, Craiova was experiencing one of the most dramatic events in its modern existence. As part of the Allied effort to deprive Germany and its satellites of resources and to help the Soviets on the eastern front, American B-24 Liberator airplanes bombed Craiova three times, on 6 May and 6 and 24 June 1944, their main targets being the marshaling yard and the railway repair depot. This resulted in numerous victims and significant property damage.
