Abstract
The article reveals the industrial development of Oltenia during the second part of its modern history. Cities as Craiova and Turnu Severin represented the main industrial and economical centres, followed by Râmnicu, Târgu Jiu and in a small measure by Caracal. The industry in Oltenia grew after 1886, but the connection with the agriculture influenced its course because of some important lacks in the industrial evolution of Romania.
