Abstract
Human freedom is determined, on the one hand, by the relationship between the individual and the state and, on the other hand, by the relationship between the community of which the individual is part and the factor who is exercising state power. This article raises the question of society’s interference in the sphere of individual freedom, making a major foray into the philosophical conceptions, starting with ancient Greece and Rome, through the School of natural law and ending with modern theories.
