Abstract
“The Life of the Elements – The Element in the Early Modern Period (Don Quixote)” is a study on the classic understanding of the element against the background of early modern Europe. Focusing on Cervantes’ protagonist, the present study points out that simplicity structures the European imaginary, as opposed to reality – be it a shared, historical, or commonplace reality.
