Abstract
Toponymy, regardless whether it is about the names of human settlements and their subdivisions – towns, parts of villages, hamlets, slums – or those of the geographical items on the field – bodies of waters, lakes, hills, slopes, hillocks, mountains, forests, valleys etc., was based on a significant proportion, in the process of denomination for their own units, on the participation of the anthroponyms. One of the frequently met names, noticed within this space, is Gheorghe.
In the present article, it is intended the analysis of the respective anthroponym from the perspective of the structural types met in the
toponymy from Oltenia.
