Abstract
This study presents the integration of ethnic Germans in the majority community, their demographic dynamics, the establishment of
institutions designed to maintain and enhance their identity, such as churches and schools, and, last but not least, highlights the influences they have exerted on community. The coexistence of the German ethnic group together with the Romanian one, the majority, influenced the development of the Pitești community in all aspects, contributing at the same time, to the ethnic and cultural diversity of the city. Although confessional they were divided into Roman Catholic, Calvinist and Lutheran-Evangelical, the German minority remained homogeneous, the only elements that mattered being the unity of nation and language. This study highlights the contribution of the German minority to the cultural, urban and spiritual development of Pitești in the nineteenth century.
