Abstract
Auctoritasand potestasare two of the main concepts we are tdking whenwe refer to the power that emitted from the Spanish court in order to design its own propagandistic image. In our article we are going to focus on how these two concepts develop during the Spanish Golden Age by using two 17thcentury plays as our main sources of inspiration. Both of them have in common the figure of princeSigismund Báthory, apart from sharing several historical events that took place in Transylvania at the end of the 16thcentury.
