Abstract
In this article the authors carry out an analysis of the pension system in Romania, as well as of the categories of pensions. The analysis focuses on changes in the legislative system after the Revolution of December 1989, the evolution of pensions, the structure of pensioners, the conditions for granting different categories of pensions, the situation of special pensions. The evolutions of the analyzed categories of pensions are placed in the economic and political context of the Romanian society, highlighting the legislative measures and the events that took place during the respective periods.
